Leadership Recognition

“Leadership in the OCDSB is the demonstration of personal initiative to achieve a positive outcome.”

Students

We actively support our students in becoming intellectually vibrant, compassionate, and responsible citizens. Our students share their talents with their peers by participating in a variety of assemblies (e.g., Remembrance Day, Safety, Cultural Celebrations, School-wide Assemblies), contributing to the school’s Literary Arts Magazine, and mentoring younger children (Reading Buddies, Technology Buddies, Lunch Monitors, etc.). Our students also show leadership in sports (cross-country running, soccer, volleyball, etc.), clubs (gardening, Eco-Kids), and academic pursuits (French and English public speaking, story- telling, science/social studies fairs). We acknowledge their contributions in our classrooms, school announcements, newsletters, assemblies, our principal’s report to school council, and end-of-year awards ceremonies. As well, we recognize student leadership by incorporating their suggestions into our planning.

Staff

Our school staff is very proud of the school’s welcoming and inclusive climate. All staff model and support character education. Visitors to the school frequently comment on the friendly and courteous environment. Student work and school initiatives are proudly displayed throughout the school. All staff work together to provide a challenging and stimulating academic environment for all students. Teaching, educational support staff and administrative staff actively participate in numerous Board-wide professional development activities and we recognize their initiative by providing and supporting opportunities for further professional growth. We also recognize staff leadership via personal interactions with one another, letters of thanks, school announcements, school newsletters, assemblies, performance appraisals, and our principal’s report to school council.

Parents/Guardians/Volunteers

Last year, our volunteers contributed hundreds of hours of support for the benefit of students in our school. Our dedicated school council meets monthly and contributes volunteer support as well as financial support to enhance learning at the school. As invaluable partners, we acknowledge our parents and volunteers through school announcements, our principal’s report to school council, school newsletters, and by welcoming them into the school.

Community

Agincourt Road P.S. is fortunate to be enriched by a variety of community partnerships. Strong partnerships have been established over the years with a number of community organizations including the Ottawa Food Bank, the Heart and Stroke Association, the Education Foundation, the Snowsuit Fund, the Rotary Club, and Ottawa Network of Volunteers in Education. We value our relationships with the larger community. We regularly welcome student teachers from Ontario Faculties of Education into the school to learn and work with our staff and students.
